It was an event that was held many years ago between different ambulance stations and earlier this year paramedic Clare Moore decided she would bring it back and update it to include all emergency service workers.
"When the gyms were closed at the start of the COVID-19 restrictions, I wanted to keep us all moving and help our mental health," Ms Moore said.
"We all work pretty closely with the kid's ward, and they're probably the most, in need so I thought we could train for a fundraiser for them."
The Coyote Cup is a 10-kilometre fun run, and last weekend five teams took part - the first team over the line won the cup.
Police, paramedics, firefighters and nurses all united to raise money to create a distraction ward in the children's ward and treatment room at Armidale Hospital.
On Friday paramedic Clare Moore presented the nurse unit manager of Armidale Hospital children's ward, Clare Horton, with a cheque for $1190.
"This is fantastic," she said.
"We'll be using it for distraction therapy in the children's ward - which is a technique we use for children who are undergoing produces so we can distract them while things are happening.
"At the moment we are using bubbles and toys, and we are now hoping to get a television. This will definitely help and maybe even give us a bit more."
