Bernard Collaery- the barrister for Witness K who has been charged with alerting the public about the Australian governments alleged misdeeds in Timor-Leste - is the 2020 guest speaker.
Mr Collaery is seeking an open trial for democratic transparency, stressing that we must be prepared to protect our civil liberties and human rights.
The event will be live at the Arts Lecture hall at UNE, however only VIP guests and members of Armidale Sanctuary will be there owing to COVID-19 restrictions.
The rest of the audience will be live streaming through Zoom, and to date more than 100 people have registered for the free event.
Mr Collaery will speak on the topic of human rights for 45 minutes then field questions in a Q & A session with both the hall audience and those on Zoom.
His talk will start at 5.30pm on October 29 in the UNE Arts Lecture Hall.
