Last Thursday morning my phone rang while I was in a news meeting. I let it go to voicemail.

I was asked on Friday how many launches can the council have of the one place, considering we saw an official launch ahead of construction last year, and another launch before that when the state funding was announced. It's a good question, but I digress.
That phone call on Thursday was from one of the suspended councillors who left a message saying they were going to gatecrash the that day's launch.
They went on to comment that the project had come in ahead of schedule and half a million dollars under budget, so was the council really that bad?
That's a question that I'm sure I have not heard the last of. Especially as there will come a time when suspended councillors will either be returning, or putting their hand up to run again.
But the business park is an example of something positive happening in our community, which is always welcome.
The news about the Dumaresq Dam redevelopment is another, which of course is an issue that carries baggage for our suspended councillors, more so than the airport.
To find good news without that baggage, the return of the Bunnings sausage sizzle was great to hear. It's a great fundraiser for so many community groups!
It's also a welcome sign that more aspects of life are returning to what we used to know.
