North Armidale Redmen and Demon Knights competing for second position and South Armidale Green and Armidale City Westside competing for fourth position.
South Armidale Yellow defeated East Armidale Suburbs 9-nil at Doody Park.
The score was 4-nil at half-time through goals to Liam Georkas, Shuku Shinzu, Josh Johnston and Reece Burton.
South Armidale Yellow dominated the second-half with five goals also scored.
Shuku Shinzu scored another two to give him a hat-trick, Liam Georkas and Reece Burton score another one each to give them two for the game and Cody McCann also scored.
North Armidale Redmen defeated Inverell 4-nil at Inverell.
With key players out this was a test of character and the club's depth for the Redmen and the ability of their young brigade to play full games at the top level.
Inverell held the Redmen well in the first-half and went into the half-time level.
In the second-half the Redmen came over the top with goals by Heagney Cooper, Tyler McCann, Daniel Stanley and Liam Edmunds to take the game 4-nil.
Demon Knights won over South Armidale Green 3-2 at Bellevue.
In a very tense game with a lot of twists and excitement between two teams that put a lot of pressure on the oppositions space and ability to control the ball Demon Knights won out with their three goals in the second-half.
The intensity and pressure of the game is reflected through two players being sent from the field late in the second-half.
Half-time saw South Armidale Green in front through Amory Ali's goal.
There was a lot of scrambling defense by both teams throughout the game, a little more focus on pulling the defense apart and create more space in front of the gaol may have seen several more goals scored.
The very windy conditions also influenced the approaches taken especially by the team defending the southern end of Bellevue.
Demon Knights, in the second-half scored their three goals with the wind at their back.
Scorers were Bentley Cropper, Sam Constance and Lachlan Williamson.
Armidale City Westside defeated TAS First XI 2-1 mid-week.
Armidale City Westsides two goals were scored by Jai Saxby and Pat Rosee while Mac Orr scored for TAS.
This was important win in Armidale City Westside's quest to make the finals.
The weekend's outcome sees them one point behind South Armidale Green in fifth spot.
This weekend's game between these two teams will be a match of the round.
LADDER:
South Armidale Yellow 28, North Armidale Redmen 23, Demon Knights 21, South Armidale Green 16, Armidale City Westside 15, Inverell 8, TAS First XI 5, East Armidale Suburbs 4
Open Division 2
Guyra United and South Armidale Yellow played a scoreless draw
This result leaves Guyra United three points behind Demon Knights in fifth spot with two games to go.
In saying this, their effort was admirable again keeping competition front runners and undefeated South Armidale Yellow team to a nil-all draw.
My prediction of a draw came true and as stated did not help Guyra in their quest to make the semis.
North Armidale Redmen defeated South Armidale White in a close one by three goals to two Friday night at Bellevue.
Jake McCann scored the only goal for the Redmen in the first-half.
The game excited the crowd in the second-half with both teams exciting the crowd with two goals appease.
Max Morris for South White and Tyler McCann for the Redmen scored two each.
Demon Knights defeated South Armidale Green 5-2 at Bellevue, Saturday.
This was closer than the score presents.
With three minutes to go in the first-half defender Hassan received his second yellow card for an infringement in the penalty box, resulting in being sent off and awarding of a penalty to Demon Knights which changed the face of the game and ultimately the game's outcome.
With the game at 2-all at half-time through goals to Nashat Jarillah and C Donnan for Demon Knights and two to Kadhim Alhayali.
As stated, the second-half was relatively close especially considering that South Armidale Green were down to 10 players. Demon Knights dominated and goals were scored by James McNeil, Nashat Jarillah second goal and C Donnan second goal for the 5-2 win. One where discipline had a big impact on the result.
Open Division 3
Armidale City Westside defeated Uralla Thirsty Thirds 9-nil
The first-half was relatively close with Armidale City Westside in the lead by two goals through goals to Sam Townsend and goal scoring freak Cyril Green. I can only assume that the strong southernly played apart in Armidale City Westsides strong dominance in the second-half with them scoring seven goals. Cyril Green scored another two to give him a hattrick. Sam Townsend scored his second, F Barakat also scored two, while M Noakes and D Green also scored goals to give the Armidale City Westside their nine goal win.
Guyra and South Armidale Yellow had a 3-all draw at Guyra
In an unexpected close one, competition leaders South Armidale Yellow retain their undefeated record but were pushed all the way by Guyra and received their first draw of the season. Guyra led by two goals to one at half-time through goals to Steve McElroy and Norman Miniti. The second-half was reversed with Jamie Wright scoring his second for the Yellows along with a goal to Michael Lord. The auto pick and I underestimated Guyra in this one.
East Armidale Suburbs defeated TAS Second XI in a good game at Bellevue Friday night.
