The two sides have played the last two deciders with Cougars taking the honours both times.
As the minor premiers Cougars were already through to the grand final, leaving the Outlaws to fight it out with Warriors for the remaining spot.
The Armidale side got the win 9-6 in what coach Jeremy Bird said was a pretty dominant performance from the mound and the plate.

"It's the first time that we'd used that particular line-up this year," Bird said.
With people being unavailable for various reasons, they have pretty well been a "mix and match line-up".
Ben Greatrex got them going when he singled on a 3-2 count in the first innings, scoring three runs.
They added another two in the second to jump out to an early 5-nil lead.
Bird said it took them another four innings to get another run, but they didn't allow Warriors to score any either. He and brother Kris, who has joined the club this season after previously playing with Cougars and being part of their back-to-back premiership triumphs, handled the pitching duties and kept things tight.
Jeremy threw the first six-and-a-third innings, allowing just seven hits and striking out two. Kris then came on and closed.
They did have to weather a late fightback with Warriors, led by Ryan Handsaker, Nathan Handsaker and Jake Forsthye, scoring five runs in the seventh innings but the damage had been done by then.
Bird said all the bats were swinging for the Outlaws with every player registering at least one hit.
Cam Beat and Sam McKay led the way with three, Keegan Bird and Greatrex also collecting multiple hits.
Bird believes they have got the side that can turn the tables on Cougars and feels like they have the momentum with Cougars having the week off.
