They were beaten 36-12 by the Pirates in the opening sevens match on Saturday in Walcha but a more determined Glen Innes outfit hit the field in the second match to bounce back with a 17-all draw.
Glen captain Sarah Byrne - who, along with Amelia Tunamena, managed to break through the Tamworth defence the team's tries - conceded her side weren't up to scratch in the opening encounter.
"I think we just weren't prepared defensively for what they were going to throw at us in the first game," she said.
"They just capitalised where there were gaps and they were technically very smart."
But they re-focused in the second game.
Down 17-7 at half-time, courtesy of an early try to Hannah Crisp, the Elkettes managed to fight back into the game.

Emilie Hodge flew down the sideline and shrugged off a handful of defenders to get within one try of the Pirates before Sarah Woolfe crossed to draw level, the match ending with 17 points apiece.
"In the second game we talked about just playing our game and really focused on keeping the ball alive and it worked in our favour," Byrne said.
"We were up in their faces and had eyes on their key player.
"It was a great effort to come back and finish off with a draw, no doubt our toughest and coldest game yet."
The tough outing puts them in good stead for yet another challenge when they face reigning New England women's sevens premiers, the Barbets, at home this Saturday.
"Looking forward to having the last two games - before finals - at home!" Byrne said.
Their club points were:
3 points and players' player - Amelia Tunamena
2 points - Bella Reardon
1 point - Tiarna McDonald
