Skipper Georgia O'Neill played in the team last year but, other than that, they are all new faces.
Not only that, they barely had any preparation leading to the clashes with Tamworth.
"We started together last week and we had really positive training runs," coach Jas Lincoln said.
The Albies girls were beaten 15-5 and 38-nil but Lincoln has been impressed with their commitment and desire to learn.
"The girls have taken an amazing attitude and are a really tight-knit group," he said.
"We understand we are up against it and the standard is very high this year, but the girls are wanting to improve week-to-week."
It will be a year of building for the Albies women but Lincoln is hoping it can form a base for the team in 2021 and beyond.
"We have a fantastic leader in Georgie O'Neill, she creates great culture and supportive of developing the skills of her teammates," he said.
"Our focus is develop skills confidence and understanding of the game and use that in years to come."
They will have another steep learning curve in front of them this Saturday when they face the Barbets, who were beaten by the Pirates in both their matches in round one.
Lincoln is just hoping his side can continue to build.
"We pretty have a much brand new team, and coach, and we have got a lot to learn and a long way to go," he said.
"But the attitude has been outstanding and we are looking forward to the opportunity to play last year's premiers."
