The Blues are yet to hit the field this season with a round one bye but he has complete faith in the talent among the squad.
"The ball distribution especially has markedly improved so they are able to identify where the ball has to go, get it there quickly, secure the ruck and then put it away," he said.
"That is what we are encouraging them to do; not be afraid to throw it and run it.
"They are starting to grasp the concept of rugby sevens rather than that rugby league bash up the middle style."

Tamworth scored 15-5 and a 38-nil victories over St Albert's College in round one but Patfield isn't focused on what their opponents can do.
"We are always cautious of our opposition but the way we are preparing, it will be a really, really good test," he said.
"I have heard they have recruited heavily but that is not our worry, we have recruited well as well."
There have been plenty of rugby league and league tag players added to the team and the most recent inclusion is Greater Northern Tigers women's captain Amy Barraclough.
Patfield believes Barraclough's inclusion will bolster their attack.
"We were doing this contact drill and she just threw this perfect spiral, two person cut out, and hit the winger on the chest and I looked at one of our guys and thought 'shit, we have a footy player here,'" he said.
"I am actually excited to see how she goes."
