Detectives and the proactive crime team scoured several streets across the town on Monday morning after finding the victim's car dumped out the front of a unit block in Niagra Street about midday.
On Sunday night, the offenders forced their way into the 76-year-old woman's home in Erskine Street about 8.15pm.
She was struck in the head with an object and pushed by the offenders who stole her handbag, personal goods and her car and fled.

The car has been seized for forensic investigations after it was found abandoned. Eyewitnesses told officers they saw it being taken on a joyride around town.

"We're particularly appealing for anyone that might have seen the car or the men inside."
The elderly woman was treated at the home by paramedics for a head injury, but was not taken to hospital.
