Presbyterian Ladies' College (PLC) has started reaching out to former students, families and staff, asking for their views.
In a statement sent to the Armidale Express late on Friday, PLC Armidale confirmed there was a proposal currently under consideration to change the names of the four Guilds (houses): Forrest, Gregory, Macquarie and Wentworth.

The proposal is an initiative of the 2020 Year 12 cohort.
"The current Year 12, asked the question as to how and why the four Guilds of Forrest, Gregory, Macquarie and Wentworth were named," principal Nicola Taylor said.
"To them it seemed odd, that as an all girls' school, PLC Armidale should have its houses named after prominent men, and not inspirational women."
She said it was not a new question as many over the years had asked the same.
"The graduating class of 2020 decided to ask the PLC Armidale community past and present, suggesting why not name the Guilds after accomplished Australian, regional and indigenous women and/or names associated with PLC Armidale former locations."
The consultation process has commenced, with current and past families, students and staff asked to provide feedback.
Should the proposal to change receive a 70 per cent response in the affirmative, the next phase of the consultation will be implemented.
