The development of the Armidale school will include the construction of new buildings as well as refurbishment of existing college facilities.
Creative arts was in the spotlight as Catholic Schools NSW welcomed commencement of the first stage of the new capital works project, which the federal government has contributed $1.9 million to.

"Our entire school community is excited by the additional opportunities for innovative learning and teaching which will result from this project," Principal Regina Menz said.
The work will occur over three stages and the first stage of the project includes conversion of the existing gymnasium to a Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) centre and construction of a new gymnasium/multipurpose hall.
General and specialised learning areas including, numerous collaborative spaces, will also be constructed in the first stage, while existing buildings will be refurbished to accommodate the College administration, library, and additional student and staff amenities.
Project Manager, Neil Mangelsdorf of Regional Project Managers Australia has coordinated a number of major projects across the Armidale Diocese.
"Schools in the Diocese of Armidale have a great sense of community and a vibrant, positive feel which is reflected in the development plan for O'Connor," he said.
Construction of stage 1 of the project will be undertaken by O'Donnell & Hanlon Pty Ltd, and is expected to be completed in October 2021.
