A 12-year-old boy was charged following an alleged armed robbery in Armidale yesterday.

About 8.20pm on Tuesday, a boy entered a convenience store on Queen Elizabeth Drive, where he allegedly produced a knife and threatened a shop attendant, a 20-year-old man.
The boy took cigarettes before fleeing.

Officers from New England Police District attended and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 12-year-old boy on Golgotha Street about 8.20am Wednesday.
He was taken to Armidale Police Station, where he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
The boy was refused bail to appear at a children's court today.
