It's been three years since the campaign started to save Armidale Showground's two century-old grandstands from demolition and restore them to their former glory.
While the Armidale Showground Reserve Trust has not had the funds to finish the work, it will now receive almost $120,000 from the state government's economic stimulus package in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

It was announced on Monday by Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall.
Armidale Showground Reserve Trust Chair June Dangar said the suite of works would make the overall site more functional and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
"The COVID-19 Stimulus Program has helped tick off a number of high priority projects the board has wanted to undertake, however haven't had the funds to do so," Mrs Dangar said.
"In particular, we are continually working to make full benefit of the small amount of water available to the Showground and having dual flush toilets will assist those user groups who hire the grounds for functions and pay for water usage."
She said all three projects would get underway before the end of this month, with local contractors undertaking the work on the livestock yards and toilets, while contractors will continue to work on the western grandstand.
"It really is surreal to think by the end of this year we will once again have both the western and eastern grandstands open and accessible to the public, something I think will make the 2021 Armidale Show that little bit special," she said.
Mr Marshall said the $119,043 would finalise the restoration of the iconic western grandstand, as well as improve toilet facilities and the livestock centre.
"Now, this funding will complete the final structural works on the western grandstand, making it safe for users and bringing it in-line with the same standard as the neighbouring eastern grandstand.
"Also, all single flush toilets across the grounds will be made dual flush, helping to assist water saving measures.
"Safety at the Livestock Centre will be improved with a number of termite infected timber rails to be replaced, with sturdier steel railing.
"By undertaking these works, the Showground Trust is hopeful more user groups may consider hiring out the venue for events."
