He said residents could be assured that he would do his best to independently serve in an honest, open and transparent way ensuring all community voices were heard.
"With that in mind, it is important to record that I have had professional relationships with suspended Councillor Ian Tiley and the CEO Ms Susan Law," he said.
Ms Law was the principal of LKS Quaero a Local Government consultancy when Mr May occasionally assisted with Fit for the Future assessments at several regional councils in NSW between February 2015 and January 2016.
"My involvement was mainly centred around council structures, governance and scale and capacity," Mr May said.
"Other than being invited as an independent in a Kempsey Shire Council Director recruitment in December 2017, I have had no other assignments with the consultancy."
Dr Tiley was administrator of Armidale Regional Council following the amalgamation of Armidale Dumaresq and Guyra Shire councils in 2016 and Mr May said he was very well known in Local Government professional circles.
At the same time, Mr May was the administrator of Cumberland Council in western Sydney.
"Obviously our paths crossed on a number of occasions due to being Administrators during the period May 2016 to September 2017," he said.
Mr May said at this week's meeting he would outline how he proposes to deal confidentially with anyone who may wish to raise matters or issues relating to the council's suspension.
