The council, chief executive Susan Law and five councillors are locked in a legal battle after a second attempt from those councillors to sack Mrs Law; who has engaged private counsel.

The OLG is monitoring the matter.
"Our organisation has also previously sought input from the OLG as we work to address that factional division between councillors," he said.

"However, I challenge the suggestion that council is not an effectively functioning body.
"It's continuing to deliver on service to the community and key projects, as our effective local management of the COVID-19 crisis, numerous measures to assist businesses impacted by the pandemic and recent announcements such as our Kempsey Road repairs and new Guyra preschool will testify."
And, he's not alone in calling for an intervention after Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall publicly invited Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock to investigate the council's issues.
A recent review from the same councillors that have now attempted to remove Mrs Law twice, found she had performed 'above average', Cr Murray said.
"It should be the same for all the councillors, which is why the council has also involved the Land and Environment Court."
The court issued a temporary injunction on Tuesday that prevents five councillors: Jon Galletly, Margaret O'Connor, Debra O'Brien, Dorothy Robinson and Ian Tiley, from voting to remove Mrs Law.
No findings have been made by the court and the matter will return in June.
