When Cinema Under the Stars came to Armidale's Civic Park on Saturday night there was only one thing missing.
While there was plenty of fun and entertainment, and families gathered to watch the movie, the stars failed to show thanks to a heavy cloud cover.
The free event drew a crowd of 2500 who flocked to watch the featured film - the modern remake of old favourite Aladdin.
Newcastle Permanent hosted the event, which also included live music from Scotty Troutman and Luke Ligtenberg, as well as kids activities including a circus workshop, roving characters and football activities.
Then after the sun had gone down, the movie lit up the big screen.
Fortunately the rain stayed away, as last year's event was cancelled when a storm hit.
