I've been horrified to see the reporting in The Armidale Express over the last week in relation to the Armidale councillors and their motion of no confidence in the mayor. I don't think I've ever seen such clear bias and misinformation up this close by a reputable newspaper.
Anybody with a moderate interest in our local council affairs would be very familiar with the growing concern within the ranks of the councillors over the last two years with the mayor's leadership and communication ability.

Cr Murray won the last election for the position of mayor four months ago by only one vote. Down from the endorsement Cr Murray got at the beginning of his tenure when he was unknown as mayor.
That simple fact alone should have made it clear to the simplest onlooker that Cr Murray's performance as mayor didn't exactly inspire confidence or demonstrate leadership ability.
Of the 10 councillors, seven put forward a motion of no confidence in the mayor. Seven councillors out of 10 all agreeing on a motion cannot possibly be painted as a picture of disunity.
Cr Murray's decision to remain as mayor, in the name of cohesion no less, in spite of this motion of no confidence by a majority, is risible, arrogant and really does him no credit.
