The generous donation and transportation of hay from Victoria to the Armidale Showgrounds was an outstanding gesture of giving freely to fellow Australians in need.
Their motivation was simply one of 'giving back' to a community that had given generously to their cause. The charity fundraising efforts of the Robb College students two years ago were acknowledged on Sunday night at the concert at the showground.
When talking to some of the people behind the scene, men and women have given up their time baling hay, loading, driving trucks and unloading for weeks. The logistics were incredible, to co-ordinate the 7000 odd bales of hay. It was a fantastic effort of patience and determination to distribute hay amongst the farmers of the district.
The Show Society volunteers, bar staff volunteers , general helpers and businesses in town who gave generously on Australia Day need to be thanked too. All their efforts made the weekend a great success. The positive 'can-do' attitude shone through.
To Brendan, Belinda, Sally, Tim, the truck drivers and their families, thank you all so much for your act of kindness.
