The Northern Inland Academy of Sport will host more than 150 athletes and coaches from the Hunter Academy of Sport, Western Region Academy of Sport, Central Coast Academy of Sport and North Coast Academy of Sport for one of the largest inter-Academy camps.
Not only will they have a huge weekend of coaching but they will have the opportunity to learn from someone who has competed at the highest level with former Kookaburra Kieran Ian Govers announced as the guest coach.
Govers was part of the 2010 World Cup-winning Kookaburras team as well as a member of the Australian team who won the bronze medal at 2012 summer Olympics and in the team who won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
He will share his extensive knowledge with all the athletes and coaches at the camp over the two days.
The camp will be conducted at the Hockey New England fields on Saturday from 8.30am to 5.30 pm and on Sunday from 8am and concluding at 1pm.
The NIAS Hockey squad for 2020 has been selected and is expected to be announced later this month.
The NIAS Basketball program is also set to begin this Sunday with their first regional training session in Tamworth.
The session will be at the Tamworth Sports Dome and is the first component of the 2020 program with the official induction into the Academy to be conducted.
