The best archers from around the state made their way to Armidale at the weekend.

Armidale Archers hosted the NSW State Field championships at their Rockvale Road base with 88 competitors from cub to veteran plus divisions.
Of the 88, there were 15 Armidale competitors who performed well, winning nine medals.
Mackenzie Harper won silver in the girls cub recurve division and Josie Hatch took gold with a national record for a double fita field in the girls cub compound division.
In the boys intermediate recurve division Jamie Hatch won gold and Brodie Hatch also won gold in the boys under 20 compound division.
Ella-rose Carson also continued her successful year with two personal best scores taking gold in the girls cadet recurve division.
Wylie Macbean was competing in his first ever competition in the men's open barebow recurve division.
This was a highly competitive division including Michael Fisher who has had success on the world scene.

Michael won the division with Wylie and William Lawlor fighting for the minor places.
At the end of day one Wylie was in front by just one point but day two saw William taking advantage of experience and come home strong finishing second and Wylie third.
The men's open compound division Jeffrey Carson, Michael Zahner, Matt Hatch and Adam Burgess were all vying for medals.
Adam, like Wylie, was competing in his first competition and was very pleased with his performance finishing fifth and Matt finished eighth.
Jeffrey and Michael at the end of day one were leading on equal points but Jeffrey remained strong on day two eventually winning by 19 points from second placed Steven Young.
Michael Zahner finished fourth after a disappointing day two.
Yan Laurenson competed in the tough men's recurve division where he finished sixth.
Michael Burgess and Brian Gordon, who have not shot competitively for many years contested the men's masters compound division.
This was another strong division with only 12 points separating the top five places.
Alastair Smedley was most consistent over the two days winning the division with Michael and Mark Sims taking second and third with Michael winning on a countback with two more sixes.
The men's veteran compound division saw the long-standing rivalry between Dennis Carson and Brian Politis continue.
Also in this division was James Larven.
Dennis, Brian, James and Terry Hellyer who competed in veteran+ recurve have, between them there is more than 200 years-worth of archery experience.
At the end of day one, it was Armidale's Dennis Carson who was in front by four points.
But day two saw Brian turn the tables.
He eventually won by two, Dennis receiving silver and James taking bronze.
Overall, the NSW State Field Championships was a very successful event and it has been announced that Armidale will once again host the event in 2020.
Congratulations to all competitors and a big thank you to the many volunteers who helped make it the success it was.
It was also great to see Garry Robinson, an Invictus Games competitor whose story featured on Australian Story, in Armidale supporting his wife Katrina who won the ladies' open compound division.
