"It's really cold," he said.

Friday's event was a Family Day from 11am to 2pm at Guyra's Recreation Ground and although Cyril said it was difficult to tell how many people had attended the event, he estimated in excess of 100.

"It's a council sponsored event in partnership with the Guyra Local Aboriginal Land Council (GLALC)," he said.

"It's a community event and we plan to do a similar days moving forward.

"The kids are enjoying themselves, they're out running around. They're having a game of touch and there's a jumping castle, and there's a playground just here. I think the kids are really enjoying it."

He said this year's event had been organised quickly and while it was not very well advertised, next year's event would be the opposite.

GLALC property manager Pauline Ale thought the day was enjoyable for everyone, especially all the children.

"Usually our land council only does just one of these, and there not too many come," she said.

"So we thought it would be better to do it with Armidale Regional Council so that a lot more people could get involved in it.

"We want to get more involved with the community and this is a really good way to do it."

Pauline said if more people became interested in the land council then it could possible get more funding for events and other things.
