Susanna Nicola Greig has been ordered not to sit in the driver's seat of any motor vehicle or motorbike, for any reason whatsoever.

Magistrate Michael Holmes confirmed the order as Greig fronted Armidale Local Court on Monday morning for the first time after the fatal accident in the city earlier this month.

The 46-year-old Armidale woman is accused of negligent driving occasioning the death of the 76-year-old on Markham Street, shortly after noon on August 9.

Detectives allege Greig was driving along that street when she struck the man as he crossed the road near the Rusden Street intersection.

Paramedics tried to help the man, and he was rushed to Armidale hospital but succumbed to head injuries and died a short time later.

A crime scene was set up at the crossing, which was combed by detectives and forensic police. The vehicle involved was also examined and the road closed.

Greig was arrested and taken to Armidale hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing. She wasn't injured in the crash.

After investigations into the collision, local detectives interviewed and charged her.

Police granted her conditional bail.

Greig did not enter a plea to the charge on Monday and the case was adjourned to mid-October.

As part of her bail, she must also live in Armidale, and an acceptable person had to deposit $1000 surety, to ensure she complies with her bail conditions.
