Group 19 rugby league chairman Terry Carson has hit back at an article which appeared in Sydney-based The Sunday Telegraph after the Moree Boomerangs' grand final win. Carson believes the article was an unfair depiction of an enthralling grand final day. The article, written by Phil Rothfield, in the Telegraph highlighted the $200 fine the Boomerangs received for swearing in their post-match team song. "To have your competition run down in such a paper and then to only talk about a silly fine and not how good the day was, was pretty disappointing," Carson said. Of the four matches played in Group 19's grand final day, three were decided by two points in nail-biting finishes. Carson slammed the negative light the Telegraph's article placed on Group 19, as well as the incorrect printing of the 36-34 scoreline. RELATED: "[It was a] brilliant day of footy, three grand finals all within two points and decided in the last minute," he said. "Couldn't ask for much more in a grand final day really. "The whole semi-finals series was really good in both divisions and grand final day really topped it off. "To read stuff like that in the Telegraph was pretty disappointing." Carson said "most" clubs have received fines throughout the Group 19 season for other minor offences. "There's plenty of fines being handed out, it is not the only fine the Boomerangs have received this year," he said. "From unregistered players to whatever it might be; drinking, social media comments."
