Alex raced in the 10-year-old boys' category at the Australian Cross Country Championships in Wollongong at the weekend.
He secured a win in the two kilometre event, with a time of six minutes and 38 seconds, three seconds in front of second place.
Alex was part of the NSW team, who also picked up gold. The team event is judged on the best four times from each state.
Alex's third medal came in the relay event, which was a thriller.
Five runners from each team ran one kilometre each.
The first NSW runner slipped and then the team had some catching up to do.
The fourth runner for the NSW side was nearly 200 metres behind Queensland but brought them to within 80 metres.
Then Alex stepped up and surged home for the team to win gold.
The three medal haul at an Australian level is a pretty impressive feat considering the St Mary's Catholic Primary School student only began training seriously last year when he signed up to Little Athletics.
His dad William said Alex had natural talent but his competitive streak saw him want to better his efforts on the athletics and cross country tracks.
"It has only come through athletics, they go down the line of compulsory cross country and he picked it up," Williams said.
"He ran fifth for Little As at state last year for the 800m.
"He wanted to started running a little bit harder so we got him in with Jay Stone and the Viper squad."
Stone has an impressive record in coaching athletes to medals at state, national and international level and Alex has benefited from his expertise. William praised Stone's efforts in helping with Alex's success.
"He has gone from strength-to-strength," he said.
"He ran 14th last year at his first crack at state, he ran second at diocesan, second at Polding and then this year he has come out and won the lot."
Alex's next attempt at an Australian title will be next month when he heads to Darwin to race in the 800m and 1500m events.
