Well, you can now learn more about the essential services Armidale Regional Council provides by booking a free tour of council waste and water facilities, as well as two new major infrastructure projects.
From Tuesday, August 13 until Saturday, August 17 free tours will be conducted at the Armidale Water Treatment Plant, Armidale Wastewater Treatment Plant, Armidale Waste Management Facility, new Regional Landfill, Malpas Dam to Guyra Pipeline and the Guyra Main Street upgrade.
Armidale Regional Council Mayor Simon Murray said this was a great opportunity to learn about the important work that goes on behind the scenes to keep our community functioning.

"I have been through these facilities myself, and would highly recommend a tour," Cr Murray said.
"It really is an eye opener and makes you appreciate what does go on well after you turn off a tap. It also provides a snap-shot of Council services and projects for anyone interested in representing their community and becoming a councillor.
"Local Government elections will be held in September next year, and this is the time to consider stepping-up and becoming a candidate."
Previously Council has bundled the facilities all in the one tour on a bus. After feedback from the community Council is now offering individual tours of each facility where you arrange your own transportation.
The exceptions are the Malpas Dam to Guyra Pipeline and new Landfill sites that require a bus.
Pick-ups for these tours will be from the Guyra office for the pipeline and the Armidale office for the new landfill. Also the tour of the Guyra Main Street Upgrade will commence from the Guyra office.
Bookings are essential and a full tour schedule is available to view on council's website. Contact Customer Service on 1300 136 833 to book your free spot.
