Tim Dyall and Paul Billings organise Armidale's Parkrun every week for those who participate in the Parkrun Australia event, but on Saturday, Armidale's run will be a little special because it turns five.

Tim said Armidale was one of the earlier Parkruns to set up in Australia, during July 2014, and continued to average about 150 runners each week.

"In the winter that drops back a little bit, perhaps down to about 100 over some of the colder weekends, but in the main part of the year, we're probably up closer to 200 people per week," he said.
"It's all run by volunteers and basically available every Saturday morning at 8am at Sport UNE. We only miss about one weekend for the whole year.
"This is the big one for this year, so we're expecting bigger numbers to turn up this weekend," he said.
Tim said not everyone ran the course and there were participants who walked it.
