Staff and management from Armidale's Forsyths Accountants donated $1000 to the Armidale Women's shelter on Friday morning, which shelter team leader Jillian MacLeod said meant a great deal to her organisation.

"We're grateful for any support, and we'll make sure this goes towards our families in need," she said.
"We just have too many of those at the moment.
"I think the underlying issues are about poverty and the lack of affordable housing. People haven't got enough available employment and Centrelink benefits are too low for people to have a good quality of living."

Forsyths Paul Cornall said a foundation was created with staff four years ago to donate to local causes.
"Staff donate out of their pay every fortnight and the firm matches those donations and that builds into an account," he said.
"Every year we make donations across our four offices in the region. Staff make the call on what's to be donated and then we have a regional donation as well.
"We do try to make sure the funds stay in the local region."
