He has been made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his work in the beef cattle industry and bio-security.
Mr Barwell is working nationally on creating 'trade access' to our rural produce and also identifying any 'risks to trade' which is fundamental to our national economic development.
Many years of continuing to serve has resulted in Br Barwell continuing in positions of service as he maintains his work in the following areas.
Mr Barwell is a member of the Cattle Council of Australia and Member, Animal Health, Welfare and Biosecurity Consultative Committee.
He is also a Member, Industry Systems and Food Safety Consultative Committee.
"He has worked very hard in this area for over twenty years and we are proud his work has been acknowledged" Mrs Erica Barwell said.
"I am humbled to be nominated and honoured to receive this Australian Medal," Robert Barwell said.
Mr Barwell is also currently chairman of several organisations, including the Target Testing Working Group (Residues), Cotton Trash Working Group, Bobby Calf Residue Solution Working Group, HGP User Working Group, and he is a member of the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) Device Based Status Working Group.
