Kerri Wallace has been awarded the Australian Service Medal ASM in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours List for her dedication to the safety of her community.
Kerri Wallace is a Retained Firefighter in Uralla, (Deputy Captain) and has been serving the Uralla community for 10 years.
She continues to serve the people of NSW with distinction, as well as having a great love for the region.
"In school when all my friends wanted to be police officers or fireman all I wanted was to be a nurse," said Kerri.
"Not a day goes by that I don't think how extremely happy I am that I have a beautiful supportive family, two very rewarding jobs that bring me so much pleasure and the most amazing circle of friends and colleagues all of which help and support the local community in any way we can.
"I am truly honoured and amazed that I have been considered for this award (Australian Fire Service Medal) AFSM ... I joined Fire Rescue to make a difference and give something back to the community."
Ms Wallace was appointed to Fire and Rescue NSW in October 2008. During her 10 years of service to Fire and Rescue NSW she has demonstrated exceptional commitment and leadership in developing and maintaining the capability of the Uralla Fire Brigade.
She is a qualified motor vehicle accident rescue operator and combined with her emergency medical response and fire fighting skills has played a significant role in saving a number of lives.
Kerri Wallaces' efforts ensured that her local community received not only economic benefit from the event but also delivered improved fire and emergency response safety benefits.
