She described The Pella In Jordan Project celebrated its 40th anniversary this year which is possibly a record length for any single Australian archaeological project, run by the University of Sydney and now through the near eastern archaeology foundation.
The excavation explored the site of an ancient city that has been almost continually occupied from the Neolithic through to the Ottoman periods, with an important Epipalaeolithic site and Paleolithic evidence nearby over the years.
Dr Pam Watson spoke about how she first went as as a student 38 years ago and she described her role now as she is still part of the team. Her talk reflected on some of the characters, discovers and adventures associated with the Pella 'family' over the decades.
