Norths scored early in the piece before the Scorpions were reduced to 10 men.
Souths then levelled the scoreline up to 1-all but they then felt the effects of being a man down.
Norths found the back of the net before half-time and held a 2-1 lead at the break.
In the second stanza, Norths edged ahead 3-1 before two late goals blew the scoreline out to the final 5-1 win.
Coach John Edmunds was pleased with how his side capitalised on Souths being a player down.
"They get a player sent off and it turns the game," he said.
"Our last 20 minutes, they were always going to run out of petrol but Souths fought right to the end.
"We had to stay calm, that is what we had to do in the second-half so it was a good result for us."
