Lazenby Hall was thronged with hundreds of high schoolers, weighing up the merits of agriculture or arts, law or linguistics. Academics and first year advisors initiated students into the mysteries of their disciplines.
Old hands led their charges on tours of the campus, from the residential colleges, sports grounds, and library to the Oorala Aboriginal Centre, the Natural History Museum, and the Glasshouse.
And, of course, there were plenty of fun activities, from ball games to Balinese dancing, from jenga to jesters. with free food to boot.
UNE markets itself as "the only university to score five stars for student satisfaction every year, for twelve years". We expect plenty more satisfied students in next year's intake.
