After their round one 46-3 defeat of St Albert's College, the premiers took on their 2018 grand final opponents in the Armidale Blues for the second round.
Under lights at Bellevue Oval, the clash was close early on until Robb surged home with a late flurry of points to extend their winning margin.
At half-time both teams had two tries apiece, with the students holding a two-point edge thanks to successful conversions off the boot of Drew Walsh.
The Blues held momentum heading into the second-half with a five-pointer before the bell and co-coach Dave McCathie said the plan for the second-half was to hold tight.
"Just to keep the composure, we knew we had to withstand another onslaught after half-time," he said.
"And again, it was a matter of time before we could start running harder at them.
"It took about another 25 to 30 minutes and they did."
The second stanza was a tight battle in the early stages but then three tries late in the game pushed the scoreline out to 42-12 in favour of Robb.
McCathie credited the side's second-half defensive efforts with the win.
"It was a great second-half," he said.
"We knew it would be a really, really tough physical contest
"There will be some very sore boys tomorrow [Sunday]."
McCathie applauded the patience of the side.
"We just thought it would be a matter of time, it might have taken 40 minutes, it took them 70 and they came home with a wet sail," he said.
"They were really impressive.
"We have had a few injuries in the club and a few more today.
"We are really pleased for them, a really great result."
