The final round of the Armidale District Cricket first grade competition has proved to be a difficult one for Ex-Services who are facing a red-hot Easts outfit.
On the opening day of their two-day encounter, Servies batted first and it didn't take long for the Easts bowlers to get on the front foot.
Jackson Gwynne and Sam Uphill struck early with Servies opener Nathan Street sent for a duck and Andy Bartik dismissed for two.
Benji Marshall nabbed a couple of boundaries before he was caught off Brandon Burey's bowling for 16.
Burey then sent Ben Spence for eight before Easts skipper Todd Francis trapped Jarrod Burton lbw for four.
Gwynne re-entered the fold and snared the wicket of Brad Widders for four and then followed it up by dismissing a resistant Jose McDonald for 24. Uphill and Francis ripped through the remaining batsmen to have Servies all out for 80. In reply, Easts finished the day with 3-222 and hold a formidable lead heading into day two.
