All Our Mob took the field in the annual event and, after losing their first game to eventual grand final winners Toomelah, went on to claim the second tier trophy.
Player Allan Widders said they had entered a team in the past but it had been many years since taking part in the tournament.
"It was a good hit out and good to get the side back in," he said.
"It is a side we have put in before but it has been a long time between drinks since we did it again. We thought we would give it a go and it came out good."
Widders said the group rarely get the chance to play on the same team but the knockout in Goondiwindi proved the perfect opportunity for them to come together.
"We go to these knockouts and sometimes we know other blokes playing in other sides but because they would rather represent their region and area in bigger knockouts," he said.
"It gives us a chance to have a game with blokes that if we didn't put this side together we would never get a game with them.
"That is a bit of the reason behind the name, we are all one mob and we don't get to play together that often and it was a bit of a success really."
The players came from all over and Widders was grateful everyone was able to show up.
"We probably wouldn't have been able to get there without a sponsor in Coffs Harbour Demolition.
"They just helped out with some sponsorship with some playing gear which just eased the load on us."
