On the sidelines for the first two weekends of the new tournament, the Hockeyroos co-captain said she was “super proud” of the way the side has started and the performance against the reigning Olympic Champions.
“We had to scramble a little bit,” she said.
“But it’s always good to get the win and scramble when you have to.”
The Armidale native didn’t get on the scoresheet but did have a near-miss just before half-time with her drag-flick deflected marginally wide.
The win, which came on the back of goals to Kalindi Commerford, Mariah Williams and Savannah Fitzpatrick, saw the Hockeyroos move to 11 points from five games.
Commerford and Williams struck inside the opening 23 minutes before Fitzpatrick sealed the win with 10 minutes to play.
Their next assignment is against the USA in Sydney on Saturday March 2.
Morgan said it is “awesome” to be getting regular games in Australia.
“We don’t really often get the chance to promote the sport here and I think to get the crowds we’ve been getting and the quality opponents as well, to be able to get the top teams in the world come and showcase our sport is really awesome,” she said.
