It went down to the final over with Tamworth chasing down New England’s 5-220 with six wickets in hand.
The top order showed some promising form in their final hit-out before the championships, which get underway in Orange on Sunday, with Richard Rowlings (30), Bronte Reid (30), Gavin Bickerstaff (30) and Ben Crowe (34) all retiring before Wally Hammond (25no) and Damien Kenniff (10no) finished off the job.
Hugh Piper was the most successful of the New England bowlers, John Farrar and Dave Topsley sharing the other two wickets.
Earlier Barry Hoy made 40 retired at the top of the order for the visitors.
Craig Morgan (31), Farrer (32), Grant Ryan (30) and Nick Endacott (31) were also unconquered, Endacott providing a late spurt with Mitch Wood (25).
Ken Barnes and Crowe both snared two wickets apiece for the home side.
Crowe was adjudged Tamworth’s man of the match and Farrar New England’s.
