An Olly Schmude century helped Armidale finish their innings on 4-241, a 40 from Henry Starr and 39 not out from Glen Innes local Bradyn Campion contributing to the formidable total.
Hunter were on 11 when Armidale opener Ryan Simpson took the first wicket.
From there the wickets dried up as Hunter posted a further 114 runs before Tom Craig dismissed their number three Joshua Wells for 44.
Simpson earned his second when Hunter’s Cambell Cleary was caught on 28.
Hunter opener Fletcher Sharpe finished on 95 when Armidale skipper Sam Johnson cleaned up the stumps.
Wickets tumbled and runs slowed as Hunter were unable to chase down Armidale’s total.
