Armidale Hospital Auxiliary managed to raise about $2000 for the Armidale Regional Hospital with this year's Christmas hamper raffles, it was announced following the auxiliary's December general meeting held at the hospital on Monday morning.

Auxiliary secretary Sue Melville said the raffle had been running for the last six weeks.

"We had six prizes, thanks to kind donations including the members," she said.
Sue said businesses that the auxiliary dealt with had supported them generously and she thanked those very much.
"We had a Christmas lunch hamper and an entertaining hamper and four more prizes," she said.
"Because we'd gone out into the community at the Bowling Club and the Markets, we thought it was appropriate to have the mayor come and draw the raffle and he kindly obliged.
"He and the general manager of the hospital Catharine Death alternately drew the six prizes."
Monday's major prize winner was Chris Putnam, an electrician working on the refurbishment of the hospital.
Sue said funds raised would go to the hospital.
"The various departments put in a "wish list" of equipment they need and we take it to our finance committee, and we decide whether we agree to them purchasing that equipment," she said.
