The Ben Venue team travelled to take on Tamworth Public School for to play their round six match in the on Wednesday.
Their last match against Lennox head saw drizzly and miserable conditions but Wednesday saw hugely different weather.
On an overcast and humid morning at the Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School oval, Ben Venue lost the toss and were sent in to bat first.
Elliot Clarke and Joe Schmude got Ben Venue off to a great start with an opening partnership of 31 before Clarke was bowled in the 7th over.
This brought Stuart Parsons to the crease and he promptly pulled the first ball he faced in front of square for four runs to open his account.
In the next over Parsons mistimed another onside shoot that ballooned in the air being cleverly caught just in front of square leg.
Cooper Collins was next in and shortly after Schmude was also cleverly caught at square leg for 20 runs.
Collins and Ben Hignett then went about steadying the innings and took the score from 3-36 to 3-89 when Hignett retired for another action packed 40 runs.
Collins was joined at the crease by Sophie Parsons and they took the Ben Venue score to 3-124 from the allocated 25 overs with Collins playing a true captains knock scoring 33 not out and Parsons not out on nine.
When Tamworth batted some very tight line and length bowling plus excellent fielding kept the pressure on the bastmen.
This continued for the entire innings as Tamworth crawled to 5-15 after 13 overs.
The Ben Venue bowlers continued to ask questions of the Tamworth batsmen and in the final over of the match they were all out for a total of just 34.
Best bowlers for Ben Venue were Ben Hignett 4-8 off five overs.
Sophie Parsons 2-3 off three overs.
Cooper Collins 1-6 off 5 overs Joe Schmude 1-3 off 2 overs and Lachlan Taylor 1-0 off two overs.
Ben Venue will now go on to play in the State Quarter Final match against either Kingscliff P.S or Narranga P.S.
