On the opening day, City were well in control with a strong performance with the bat followed by a solid effort with the ball.

Saturday’s second day saw fortunes turn the way of Easts as they produced a bowling masterclass. 

Sam Uphill and Todd Francis were the destroyers as City failed to find the form they had on the first day as they were dismissed for 33 from 14 overs. 

Uphill added six wickets to his first innings’ total of five to finish the match with 11 while Francis brought his match-total to nine with four. 

“Once we got a sniff we took it and the rest is history really,” Francis said. 

“Sambo bowled really well, he got us off to a good start, he also bowled really well in the first innings too.

“We rolled through them pretty quickly so we didn't really need to change up any bowlers or anything like that.

“We had a bit of a turnaround which is good, shows a bit of character. 

“We just have a pretty good mentality around the group that even if we are down and out we don't give up so it makes it pretty easy when you have a good team.

“Our pressure on them in the second innings was high as well, they batted for time which probably played into our hands pretty well.

“We were behind so we had to attack from the get-go.”

With the bat, things looked dire early for Easts with Cody Graham dismissed for a duck followed by Justin Hickey with seven and Aaron Whackett for five. 

Francis, however, combined with Easts’ newcomer Cameron Ashe to chase down the runs they needed to claim the second innings’ points. 

“Everything just worked in our favour on that second day, that doesn't really happen in games but everything just clicked really,” Francis said. 

“We were lucky enough to bat okay and knock it over pretty quickly.”
