Celebrations will kick off with a street parade themed ‘ There’s no place like Uralla’ at 10.30am on Saturday October 27, and conclude with the Thunderbolt Bull and Bronc Rodeo On November 17.
Always a popular and colourful spectacle, the street parade will feature floats by local schools and businesses as well as circus performers, vintage cars and motorbikes. Festival namesake, and legendary local bushranger, Captain Thunderbolt will also make an appearance.
At 1pm there will be a Hula Hoop competition and at 2pm the Billy Cart Challenge will take off in Kings Street.
A market with plenty of stalls, children’s activities and live music will be on in Alma Park until dusk. Then at 8.30pm the fireworks display will be ignited at the Uralla Bowlo.
In 1998 the event consisted of a small street parade and community barbecue. Over the years it evolved and was officially named the Thunderbolts Festival in 2007.
