Among them, Armidale resident Bar Finch and three other advocates.
“The situation is really dire and it was quite distressing,” she said.
“These children are living basically in tents in an island smaller than the Armidale area.
“The doctors that spoke today talked about children who four years ago were considered gifted and talented, five years on they’re wetting the bed, not getting up, eating or drinking.
The aim is to have the children still held on Nauru released by Universal Children’s Day, and similar protests were held in Armidale and Tamworth outside Member for New England Barnaby Joyce’s office on Tuesday.

“We want them back in Australian communities,” Ms Finch said.
