The local soccer club has put forward teams of all ages in regional and local competitions under the Westside name for half a century and will celebrate the significant milestone this Saturday at Armidale City Bowling Club.
Co-president Anthony Gray said whatever banner the Westside name has fallen under, they have always tried to maintain an inclusive environment which has helped them reach the 50 year-mark.
“There was a time there when we were called Armidale Ex-Services Westside and back when I was a kid there were amalgamations with PCYC, we have had associations with the university at one point in time as well,” he said.
“Westside has been the constant throughout those 50 years.

“We have always tried to include everyone from all different walks of life, social demographics and we have always made sure we have included anyone and everyone in what we have done and I guess that appeals to a lot of people.”
Gray said there are plenty of people set to join in on the celebrations and share fond memories of their time in Westside colours.
“We have got past and present players coming, we have got somewhere between 100 and 120 people turning up,”
“It is really good, especially to get people that haven't been around the club for a while but they are still in town and we have managed to get them to come to the event.
“It is nice to re-connect with some past players.”
The club has four senior male teams, a female side and nine junior teams with around 170 registered players.
It is only fitting two of their senior teams will take the field in grand finals on Saturday before the milestone celebrations.
“We have got two teams in grand finals as well, we have our third grade and fourth grade in as well,” Gray said.
