After finishing the Bachelor’s Degree, I got an invitation to do the Master’s Degree of medical research and it was the most difficult and complex time in my life.
In my opinion, the essence of medical research was to serve as a bridge to connect medical theory to clinical practice and use the new findings to treat or even cure the diseases.
To my disappointment, some researchers could not care less about the wellbeing of the patients, what they really cared about was the publicity of the papers and the funding for scientific research. After a year, I decided to leave the team and go outside the country to see the world.
I have done some research about the healthcare system of Australia and it is a country with one of the best social medical service industry. Therefore, hello Australia!
I got the offer letter of Master of Nursing Practice from UNE in 2017 and after that, the visa application process went quite smoothly. On May 19, 2017, I officially landed in this beautiful and amazing country, bearing ambitious dreams.
Being a part of the health care team in Australia indeed taught me a million things.
Before I stared my course, I got the advice from UNE international office that it might be a great help to my academic study if I attended the IAP (Introductory Academic Program).
I did and it was really rewarding. I met some new friends and I’m still keeping in close touch with some of them. Besides, the teachers are extremely patient and nice, going out of their way to help us on so many levels.
Eventually, my course began. Being a part of the health care team in Australia indeed taught me a million things. The clinical environment is friendly and helping that I could feel that the health professionals really care about their patients.
It was like a big family, where everyone within the environment respected and valued each other, which was pleasant and mind blowing.
In China, due to the large population, health professionals do not have enough time to check up on the patients and patients quite often feel that they are left out. This situation caused the unsatisfactory outcomes of the treatment and the strain between the health care facility and their clients.
The placement is the best opportunity for me to get involved in the health care system and expose myself to various situations that enables me to learn stuff.
I feel energetic and positive about living and studying in Australia and Armidale is definitely a good place to live in. I have travelled to other parts of the country, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney… My next destination is Perth.
I truly want to say thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me with my life in Australia. Thank you so much!
