But to finish 50 tries in front of second place on the table is unheard of.
Guyra under 12 player Oscar Atkin did just that when he finished with 75 tries in 18 games in the Group 19 junior rugby league season, including five in the grand final.
To add to that tally, Atkin also scored five tries in the annual Gordon Creighton Cup, one in Group 19 colours and many more in Guyra Central School colours.

His dad, John, estimates the young superstar has scored around 100 for 2018.
“He got 75 tries for the season for Group 19 and I know he scored another five at the gala day in Glen and then he possibly could have scored 20 or 30 more through school and rep trials,” John said.
“I would say up near 100.”
At the start of the season, Oscar’s goal was to just outdo his 2017 tally of 36 tries.
He didn’t quite expect to double it.
“Not really because last season I only got 36 so I didn’t think I was going to get that many,” Oscar said.
“I wanted to try and get more tries this year than I did last year.”
Oscar has also been applauded for his sportsmanship.
The speedster has found the tryline more times than he scored but passed the ball to teammates for them to get on the scorers’ list.
Of the century of tries he has scored, there is one that stands out the most.
“It was the first game of the season against Uralla,” Oscar said.
“It was full-time and one of my teammates kicked it and it bounced off the other team into my hands and I got a try.”
Oscar does dream of making it to the NRL but isn’t sure what team he would like to play for.
The Guyra Argus contacted Country Rugby League, other Fairfax publications as well as putting a call out on social media to track down if there was a record similar to Oscar’s.
The closest response was Wacey Byrne as an under 6 player in 2001. Byrne scored 100 tries from carnivals and season games.
Group 19 president Jeanette Hillier said: “I can't recall anyone scoring that many senior or junior player for that matter. I would have to do a bit of research but I do believe it is an amazing feat and a testimony to the skill of this young player.”
