Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall visited the Uralla showgrounds on Monday afternoon and announced funding worth $40,450 to bury some existing low-hanging power lines and alleviate any danger posed during future events.

“At showtime you’ve got horse floats, trucks coming in bringing whatever and it’s actually quite dangerous. I’m not aware of any incidents, but it’s about being able to utilise the showground to its full capacity,” Mr Marshall said.

The power lines are very, very low.

“It was raised in an audit of the Crown Lands Department of this showground, so it has been a priority for the new Trust to resolve and this funding will allow that to occur

Chair of the new Uralla Showground Land Manager Leanne Doran said she was very pleased with the funding.

“We are delighted, especially with us being a new board and having funding come through, It gives us a chance to make a difference early on,” Ms Doran said.

She said the showground was used by many community groups for different purposes and hoped the Uralla Show would be held again this year after last year’s event did not run.

“There is a wide array of different groups that use the showground at different times. I went on the board because I didn’t want the showground not to be able to be used as the great community facility it is,” Ms Doran said.
