Police are appealing for public assistance after the indecent assault of a woman at Armidale.

About 5.30pm yesterday, a 19-year-old woman was walking east on the Armidale creek land bike track, between Butler and O’Dell Streets, when she was tackled from behind by an unknown male.
The woman and the man fell to the ground. The man then indecently assaulted the woman, until disturbed by witnesses who heard the woman’s cry for help.
The man fled the scene. The woman suffered grazes and bruising.
Officers from New England Police District commenced inquiries into the incident.
The male has been described as Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged in his late teens, 175cm tall, with short black wavy hair, wearing black track pants and a black coloured jumper.
