The Tigers men finished as minor premiers in the inaugural Group 19 second division season but missed out on making the decider after going down to Warialda 36-24 in Saturday’s preliminary final.
Captain-coach Josh Clark didn’t envisage finishing the season at the top-of-the-table but was proud of the efforts of his team.
“We just had a scrape up team and managed to go all right until the finals,” he said.
“We had no standout players which everyone knew all year, just a good team all-round. It was good, it was enjoyable and everyone has had a good time.
“Everyone gets along and the few blokes from Armidale we had are talking about coming back for next season.”
Clark lauded his team’s effort against the Super Spuds but said they didn’t back it up against Warialda.
“Blokes didn't turn up, that is what happened,” he said.
“I think we played our grand final the week before maybe. I am not disappointed in the loss, I am disappointed in how we played to get that loss.”
Warialda now play Guyra in the grand final this Saturday.
