Jordan Waters was refused bail in Armidale Local Court late on Monday on charges of using an offensive or threatening to use an offensive weapon to prevent a police investigation and being armed with intent.
Shortly after 8.45pm on August 7, Armidale police were called to reports of a violent altercation in the area around Dale Crescent and Parry Parade.
Officers said they arrived and spoke with witnesses to find a window had been smashed and a man allegedly fled the scene into a nearby house. The man suffered lacerations after the window was smashed.
Police said officers went to the house and asked him to come outside, to which he refused before allegedly arming himself with a knife and threatening to stab officers.
A female occupant was also inside the same house at the time, police claim.

A stand-off ensued and police continued to negotiate with the man.
The man received assistance from paramedics. He was treated at Armidale hospital for lacerations.
Following investigations into the incident, the 24-year-old was arrested at a Niagara Street property by the Target Action Group (TAG) late on Saturday and taken to the police station where he was questioned and charged by Armidale detectives.
Waters was refused bail by police and was again refused bail during an out-of-sessions bail hearing on Sunday.
On Monday, Waters made no application for bail in Armidale Local Court and it was formally refused by magistrate Michael Holmes, who ordered he remain in custody until later this month.
A spokesperson for police said the arrest was part of a “co-ordinated crackdown on crime in Armidale which has seen extra patrols across the town in response to an attempted carjacking and violent bashing of a woman on the night of August 4”.
The police spokesperson said the operation would continue and further arrests are anticipated.
